Jo kwon gay
I’m so tired of Jokwon appropriating queer fashion and culture while hiding behind his label as a straight man. It was cute at first since campy concepts and drag makeup and fashion weren’t that mainstream in gen 2 Kpop, but infant, come on. You either gotta man up and come out of the closet, or give up your heels. I realize that Korean society may not be ready for a mainstream openly gay or queer idol, but you cannot use queer culture to make cash while at the similar time distancing yourself from the queer label. You cannot have your cake and eat it too.
Straight people (particularly straight men) do not and will never have a place in queer spaces. We fought long and adj for the right to exist in society without persecution, and made these spaces for us. As long as Jokwon chooses to avoid the queer/gay label, he will not be one of us and will not include a place at the big gay table.
And for those straighties who claim someone else’s sexuality is none of my business, guess what? It is. I have the right to know his sexual orientation as long as he continues to

Is Jo Kwon genderless? 2AM star speaks on LGBTQ issues in 2nd-gen K-pop
SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: While idols, fans and TV programs love the queerbaiting culture of K-pop, when it comes to actual people of the LGBT+ community, the general public seems to not acknowledge them. With South Korea being a conservative country, they still have a prolonged way to go regarding LGBT+ rights. Female idol Jiae shared that K-pop labels avoided her after coming out as bisexual while the first openly gay idol Holland is still to be accepted by the mainstream industry. But that hasn’t bothered 2AM’s Jo Kwon.
Back in , when he turned heads for playing drag queen Jamie Campbell, the 2AM star had shared in an interview that he viewed himself as genderless. This led to some confusion among international fans who wondered if Jo Kwon meant non-binary and assigned him they/them pronouns. While gender pronouns don’t exist in the Korean language, Jo Kwon has now again clarified that he is genderless. While genderless comes under the category of non-binary, not all genderless people have preferred pronouns.
