He might appear across as supremely confident on The Block.
But there was a time when Darren Palmer was conflicted about his sexuality.
On Friday, Darren, 42, told GQ magazine: 'I used to rest in bed and pray that no one would be gay because that was easier for me than accepting that I was.'

How We Met: Why Darren Palmer and Olivier Duvillard got married after just four months
Darren Palmer is a man of taste: he knows when he sees something he likes. But his now-husband Olivier Duvillard had to ask him out three times before he finally agreed.
"He’d just come out of a relationship," Palmer – interior designer and judge on The Block – tells 9Honey, laughing.
"I was like ‘No, no, no, no, no, that’s a bad idea still too soon.'"
"Persistent, or crazy," Duvillard chimes in. "It just depends how you look at it."
Palmer still has all the dates written down in his diary: Duvillard took him to a gallery for their first date, a Thursday night, where he was particularly struck by one piece. He pointed it out, then thought nothing more of it. (But don't forget this detail – it'll become relevant shortly.)
Two days later (a Saturday, for those of you playing along at home), Palmer took Duvillard to a friend's 30th.
"Everyone who saw us that night was like: 'How long have you guys been together?'

'Our second date, I stayed and didn't go home, and we were engaged two months after that and married two months after that,' he added.
Palmer also remarked on the dogs he cares for with his husband, saying that his domestic life is 'furry.'
