Istanbul! Once the center of the world’s technological advancement and cultural investment, this wonderful city sits right on the border between Europe and Asia and provides the perfect blend of European and Middle Eastern cultures. As a queer traveler, however, one might have a scant more questions in mind than merely asking what the country has to offer.

The Middle East is a notorious hard landscape for queer travelers and residents to navigate, and there hasn’t been much progress in this department as of delayed. In fact, we would say it has gotten worse. Worries are good warranted, as are genuine concerns for one’s safety.

Stayed at the HI Sisli last week for 2 nights. Very new, IKEA-type furnishings, but a decent stay and only 15K/night. Good location, only about 5 min. walk to Osmanbey Metro, the first stop away from Taksim in reality, only a min hike to Taksim Square. Also there is a large new shopping mall in Sisli, and few tourists, so a bit more "authentic" than the places selling Turkish Delight every 10 feet in Sultanhamet.
IC has some decent prices too. HI Metropolis (older, needs updating ill but only 10K/night!) and CP Old City are decent locations for sightseeing but if you've been to IST before, Taksim side is better for shopping, late nights, and fun. Forget the HI Airport, though it's currently on PointBreaks, so at only 5K/night, it might tempt you. Still, IC points are as simple to get as candy, so I'd still carry out the HI City (10K) or Sisli (15K).
Depends on what you're seeking. If you plan on having any "guests", then I wouldn't stay at a small

Istanbul is quite literally where East meets West. In fact, it is the world’s only transcontinental city, with the Bosphorus Strait running through the city and dividing it into a European and an Asian side. The influences of both continents combine within Istanbul’s culture, cuisine, and the more liberal attitudes of its people—at least in comparison to its neighbors. However, Istanbul is very much its own place with a strong personality.

The former seat of the Byzantine and Ottoman Empires is also a grandiose sight to behold. The million-plus city takes you back to historic Constantinople as grand mosques, ancient markets, bustling bazaars, and magnificent palaces reflect a rich and fascinating past shaped over the centuries by the Greeks, Persians, Romans, Venetians, and Ottomans. It also makes for a great jumping-off gesture for short trips to nearby Bursa, Troy, and the Prince’s Islands, or for deeper excursions into Turkey. Although Istanbul has a surprisingly large gay nightlife scene and is relatively tolerant, it’
