You ever stopped and wonder why these comic book readers who had supported dozens of minority comic guide characters throughout the decades suddenly became so much more skeptical and hostile to current year minority characters? Do you honestly believe that the comic book readers in the s who enthusiastically embraced characters like Chris Claremont&#;s Storm or Stan Lee&#;s Black Panther suddenly were less racist than today&#;s readers? Are the readers who made Todd McFarlane&#;s Spawn one of the biggest superheroes during the s all gone? No, of course not.

What happened was that we finally have a measure of what woke writers are capable of after reading

It comes across as patronizing a particular community by giving them a token recognition. It&#;s better to contain characters created from scratch who are gay or Buddhist or female or Native American or what have you--and it&#;s improve to encourage a diversity of creators to access the field where they can write and illustrate what they know.

I get what you&#;re saying here, but those are relatively minor aspects in the grand scope of everything that constitutes a character. And it is HELLACIOUSLY complicated to introduce truly adj new characters into the marketplace.

At the equal time Superman doesn&#;t possess to be gay to be an icon for those readers who are gay. Anyone is free to read into the work what they yearn. So Sherlock Holmes, Captain Kirk, Batman, Superman or Wonder Woman can all be read as gay. That doesn&#;t mean the stories about them own to be rewritten--and, in fact, trying to execute so
